Over one year ago, during a time of discouragement, and as the Christmas season was beginning, I took a little “retreat.” I went to a study area at CCU which is open on Sunday mornings. I spent four hours reading the Bible, praying, thinking, and journaling. I did more journaling during that time than I ever had in one given day. It was a needed time with God.
My main objective that morning was to hear from God about what I was supposed to be doing. I did not know. Before leaving, I still was unsure about what I was supposed to be doing. Yet I was encouraged from Scripture.
And one of the verses which both encouraged and comforted me that morning was from Zephaniah.
Zephaniah 17 states:
The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.
This Thursday is the one year mark of when the pandemic was declared. The year has been challenging for many of us! Many people have been sick or died. And there have been countless other problems for people due to fallout from the pandemic.
Whatever the details of your past year, may you know at this time that God loves you. For our salvation, Jesus Christ died on a cross for the forgiveness of sins of anyone. He was the atoning sacrifice for the wages of sins which is spiritual death.
If you believe in Jesus, you will have eternal life!
The reason Jesus died for anyone: Jesus loves us.
May you know today that God even wants to rejoice over you with singing. Imagine God singing a song for you. Wow.
Have a great day,
Pastor Hunter
